Meet Judy
Meet Judy, our Filling Lead! She’s the master of our filling machine (which she lovingly named “Babe”, such a hard worker in the kitchen, and handles online order fulfillment like a pro! She’s also a master blanket maker and keeps herself busy by making blankets that she gifts to others. 

What is your role at Ground Up? What does your day-to-day look like?

Operation Lead: I start by restocking from product to boxes then printing out orders for the day and help pack and deliver packages to the post office 

 

You just celebrated your 3 year anniversary at Ground Up! What has your journey at Ground Up been like?

Amazing and  somewhat unexpected I could have never imagined I would be able to achieve so much in the 3yrs of being here.And it's  all because  I overcame my fears .

 

What have you learned throughout your time at Ground Up? 

I have learned to trust myself more and believe that I do matter and what I have to say does matter.

 

What is the community at Ground Up like? 

Supporting one another is what makes a community so when we help one another we can make a difference.

 

What do you like to do for fun? 

Lately I have been roller skating but my passion is sewing and making Tie-blankets.

 

How do you stay motivated?

My faith, family and my recovery.

 

What are your favorite ways to #spreadgood in your community? 

I share my nut butter with random people because I get to share the story behind Ground Up and the amazing help they give to us .

 

Who is one person who inspires you and why? 

My mom I have always admired her work ethics and realize that same trait within me.

 

What is your favorite Ground Up nut butter flavor + favorite way to enjoy it?

Hazelnut I eat straight out of the jar to make smoothies and eat with ice cream.

 

At Ground Up, you introduced the concept of Weekly Affirmations with the team. Can you share more about this practice? What is your favorite affirmation at the moment?

During my recovery I started journaling every day all the negative thoughts down and turned them into something positive.

 

Imagine:

We don't drain each other.

We just grow.

What has your experience with Ground Up been like? How has it has helped your self-confidence?

My experience with Ground Up allowed me to trust myself that I can do the job and fear that I'm not able to do it. I've learned to trust my first thought and learned not to doubt myself when doing or learning new tasks, since I started working here.

What does it mean to you to have a job opportunity and be back in the work force?

Working at Ground Up has opened by eyes to new things. I am appreciated by everyone and that means a lot to me. I feel like I am worthy and capable of doing my job, and I enjoy being at Ground Up.

 

What is the community at Ground Up like? What does having this community mean to you?

The community at Ground up is like having a lot of sisters. I have fun and a great relationship with everyone I work with.

  

What do you like to do for fun?

 Making blankets and doing puzzles.

  

What is your favorite Ground Up nut butter flavor + favorite way to it? 

My favorite is Oregon Hazelnut by itself or with ice cream.

 

 

What do you hope to do after Ground Up?

After Ground Up, I hope to find a full-time job.
