Production Assistant Job Opening

We’re looking for a supreme multi-tasker who is looking for the opportunity to get experience at a fast-growing social enterprise...and someone who enjoys working in the kitchen.

We want someone to jump in and help us with nut butter production. Currently we are a small team with one production manager, as well as a team of 5 or so women who assist. We are growing quickly, and need to bring on someone to help us manage our production days to effectively meet the demand. Your responsibilities would include:

  • Assist in all aspects of the kitchen from mixing the nut butters to roasting coconut to filling jars

  • Support kitchen team on production days to ensure goals are met

  • Learn to operate kitchen machinery including mixing machine and filling machine

  • Assist Production Manager in coordinating team lunches, stretch breaks, etc.—and all of the other things that help promote team morale!

  • Assist in maintaining organization and efficiency of team / process during busy production days

  • Ensure health, safety and quality standards are met

  • Assist in managing the labeling process

  • Transport raw materials back and forth from the warehouse (must be able to lift 30+ lbs and be on your feet for 8 hour days)

  • Experienced in working in a commercial kitchen (ideal, but not a requirement)

Commitment: 10 hrs / week

Location: The Redd, 1140 SE 7th Ave, Portland, OR

Schedule: Every Wednesday, 8 AM - 6 PM

The Production Assistant would need to be present at all production days, which currently includes every Wednesday. If you are interested in additional hours, we can discuss other roles for you as well. This position has the opportunity to grow into a longer-term, full-time position as the company grows, and as our current Production Manager moves on to go to grad school this fall.

Ground Up PDX is a small-batch nut butter company that employs women overcoming adversity to provide them with job skills and training to get back on their feet. We produce peanut-free, honey-sweetened nut butters in flavors such as Lavender Honey and Cinnamon Snickerdoodle. Our products are sold in New Seasons, Whole Foods, Fred Meyer, and other PNW retailers.
