She's Empowered Spotlight: Hanna of AWG Bakery
Tell us a little about you!
Hi! My name is Hanna and I’m the founder of AWG Bakery. I danced competitively my whole life which meant I always had to be aware of nutrition and what I was putting into my body. In my early 20’s health foods and holistic nutrition became my passion and what ultimately led me to starting AWG Bakery!
What do you do for work? Tell us about your professional journey.
I worked for several health food companies before starting AWG. This helped me so much with knowing the ins and outs of the business. I currently wear many hats at AWG since we are a small business but I absolutely love it.
How do you stay motivated?
It is truly so motivating to hear everyday from our customers how happy they are that they’re able to eat bread again. People come into our shop and say they’ve been dreaming about having avocado toast for years and now they’re finally able to with our gluten/grain free bread!
Do you have any advice for someone who is interested in starting a business/blog?
Just start! You’re never going to be fully ready and you’ll learn everything as you go. Listen to podcasts about business, get advice from people currently doing what you want to be doing and have a thick skin. No one is going to care as much about your business as you so always follow your gut when making decisions.
How do you work to stay centered and practice self-care in your busy day-to-day reality?
I have a toddler so running a business and being a mama can definitely get a little hectic! Having daily gratitude keeps me calm as well as daily breath work. The wimhof method is my go-to breath work method.
What do you like to do for fun, when you aren't working?
Going to Disneyland with my family on the weekends. We live super close to it so just going for a few hours for us is a little escape from reality and we love it!
What are some of your favorite recipes with Ground Up?
Any of Ground Up nut butters on AWG CinnaSpice bread is amazing! I love toasting a piece of the bread in the morning, adding Ground Up nut butter, then adding berries and raw local honey. Delish!
