Jen joined our team as a production apprentice during a pivotal moment in her life, and through her work on the production floor, she’s rediscovered her confidence and sense of possibility. Surrounded by a supportive, encouraging community, Jen has grown not only in her skills but in her belief in what’s next for her future. Today, she’s proudly taking steps toward returning to school and pursuing her dream of becoming a radiology technician. We’re honored to be a small part of her journey and excited to share her story with you. Read on to hear more about Jen, including her favorite flavor from Ground Up!

What is your job title at Ground Up?

I am a production apprentice at Ground Up.

What job duties do you perform at Ground Up on a regular shift?

I have several duties as a production apprentice. Normal tasks include loading jars onto tables, filling the jars, lidding and labeling the jars. On special days I get to combine and mix ingredients to make our delicious nut butter. 

What do you like about working at Ground Up? 

I can't say enough good things about Ground Up. The work environment is fun, challenging, and supportive. The best thing is the wonderful community of women I am surrounded by.

Name something worth celebrating at the moment or something you are currently proud of?

When I first started at Ground Up I was very scared of what my future held and what I would be capable of doing. I am proud of myself for turning my outlook around. Now I feel completely capable of going to college.

How has your confidence grown since joining the Ground Up team? 

My work at Ground Up couldn't have come at a better time for me. I was struggling to believe in myself and move forward with my life. My time at Ground Up has been instrumental in getting me back on my feet.

How would you describe the community at Ground Up?

Ground Up has the most supportive work environment I have ever been in. The leadership team is engaged and encouraging. My co-workers are all supportive of each other.

What does it mean to you to have a job opportunity and be back in the work force?

It has meant the world to me to have the opportunity to work at Ground Up. It has really given me a leg up to move forward on my journey. 

What’s next for you? Any goals or dreams you're excited to pursue?

I am returning to school, I am in a program to become a radiology technician.

What’s your favorite flavor and way to eat it?

My favorite flavor is our seasonal Salted Maple. I shamelessly eat spoonfuls of it.
