We’re hiring Production Apprentices for our Apprenticeship Program. As a Production Apprentice, you will work with a team of womxn, contributing to our supportive work environment and modeling our core values in the production of nut butters. 

About Us: Ground Up PDX is a local, woman-owned company that runs an employment training program. Through the sale of delicious and healthy nut butters, we hire womxn overcoming adversity to work with us part-time, giving them an opportunity to work in a commercial kitchen space in addition to learning everything from sales and marketing. After 6-9 months in our employment training program, trainees have developed the job skills, on-the-job mentoring and ultimately the confidence to transition into their next phase of life. Our hope is that through the skills they gain here, they go on to find full time work with benefits.

Type of Position: 6 month employment contract

Hours: 15 - 22.5 hours / week. Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday (9am-5pm)

Location: 657 SE Yamhill St., Portland OR, 97214 

Pay: $16.75/hr

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Support the production team in the production of nut butters
• Assist in all aspects of the kitchen from mixing nut butter, filling and lidding jars, labeling and tamper-sealing jars, dishwashing and cleaning
• Learn to operate kitchen machinery including mixing machine, filling machine and labeling machine
• Organize and move products from the warehouse to the production facility ● Maintain efficiency, quality standards and adherence to health and safety protocol while working in the kitchen 

Requirements:

• Ability to work as part of a team
• Positive attitude
• Punctual and can reliably report to work by 9am two days per week 
• Flexible and able to receive feedback and instruction from supervisors and coworkers
• Ability to be on their feet continuously for 8 hours with a combination of standing and walking throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, twisting, and lifting up to 25lbs
• Must be able to continuously work with arms, hands and wrists; grasping, squeezing, twisting, and turning at a rapid pace for the entirety of their shift
