We're Hiring: Warehouse Manager

We're hiring a Warehouse Manager. This manager is a leader who controls the flow and operations of the warehouse and fulfillment functions at Ground Up - making sure all incoming and outgoing shipments are executed efficiently and contributing to the financial success of Ground up through finding ways to cut costs through purchasing and improved systems and efficiency.

The Warehouse Manager reports to the Director of Operations and oversees all customer order fulfillment (ecomm and wholesale business), procurement, purchasing, materials management, and inventory management, supervising a team of 2-5 employees.

Ground Up PDX is a local, women-owned small-batch nut butter company that employs women overcoming adversity to provide them with job skills and training to get back on their feet. We produce peanut-free, honey-sweetened nut butters in flavors such as Cinnamon Snickerdoodle and Coconut Cardamom with chia seeds. Our products are sold in New Seasons, Target, Whole Foods, Fred Meyer, and other PNW retailers, along with significant business through ecommerce.

Type of Position: Exempt, Full-time

Starting Salary: $54,000 Annually 

Benefits: Paid Holidays, PTO Accrual, Healthcare Reimbursement 

Schedule: Varied shifts during Ground Up operating hours. Typically weekdays between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:30 pm. (Ground Up typically runs a four day work week, with the exception of September through December at a 5DWW)

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Supervise a team of two to five employees
  • Support the production, fulfillment, and operations teams to ensure output & quality control goals are met
  • Support Operations Leadership in planning and execution of business improvement initiatives 
  • Act as Manager on Duty and lead production and fulfillment teams as needed
  • Model efficiency and adherence to GMP and Food Safety requirements
  • Cultivate positive team culture and promote an environment in which employees are engaged, empowered, and committed to the success of the company 
  • Coach, guide, train and give meaningful feedback to all staff through on-the-job training, corrective action, development planning, and regular evaluations
  • Set long-term and short-term goals and motivate staff to achieve them
  • Meet fulfillment goals as set by Operations Leadership
  • Communicate relevant information to staff through team meetings, huddles, email, and communication boards

Warehouse Management

  • Supervise operations leads and associates in customer care, order fulfillment (Distributors, wholesale and ecommerce) , and warehouse maintenance
  • Track and manage incoming deliveries through inventory management system using effective logging and organization
  • Ensure all BOLs are accurate and accounted for wholesale orders
  • Supply ordering
  • Manage Forklift including weekly maintenance and propane tank refilling
  • Cost reduction in the areas of supplies, utilities, shipping and process efficiency
  • Improve system flow and efficiency in warehouse operations  
  • Perform tasks in DEAR (inventory management platform) including but not limited to:  quotes, invoices, inventory, purchase orders, and product updates
  • Manage freight partnerships
  • Maintain warehouse calendar daily
  • Communicate status changes of orders to leadership team
  • Train and certify eligible staff on operating the forklift
  • Manage freight and shipping vendor relationships
  • Support production planning
  • Support sales team with event preparation    
  • Employee HR management through Gusto with timecard reconciliation, PTO, and scheduling
  • Staff evaluation writing and delivery
  • Ensure that all customer orders are filled in a timely and accurate manner
  • Order printing and packing support as needed 
  • Provide excellent service to customers in person, via email, and over the phone
  • All other duties as assigned by manager

Safety & Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Maintain high standards of quality and sanitation in line with regulatory agencies 
  • Attend trainings on sanitation and protocol to stay up to date with current requirements and regulations 
  • Understand and facilitate a safe work culture, ensuring compliance with all company safety/environmental and housekeeping policies 
  • Ensure sanitation practices and record keeping are maintained to complaint food safety regulatory requirements
  • Abide by OSHA regulations and help encourage a safety culture

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Effective communication in both oral and written form 
  • Supervisory Experience 
  • Trauma informed management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill to safely and effectively operate standard food service and warehouse equipment 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Forklift Training Certificate
  • Flexible and adaptable to fast paced, changing environments
  • Demonstrate problem-solving in a solutions based approach
  • Able to make decisions and prioritize tasks accordingly
  • Must have the capability to multi-task ongoing projects and day-to-day responsibilities 
  • Proficient in Google Docs, Sheets, Powerpoint, and all other computer programs and platforms assigned
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs & able to stand on feet for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation.
