She's Empowered Spotlight: Jenn Lueke
Meet Jenn Lueke—cookbook author, recipe developer, and the voice behind @jenneatsgoood. From her roots in finance to building a food platform centered on accessibility, balance, and real life, Jenn brings both heart and strategy to everything she creates. We’re thrilled to celebrate her cookbook launch 'Don't Think About Dinner' and even more excited to partner with her later this year on a Ground Up nut butter flavor—so consider this just the beginning!
Tell us a little about you!
Hi! I’m Jenn, a Massachusetts native who loves good food and helping others get it on their plates as easily as possible. You might know me as @jenneatsgoood on social media or as the writer of the eat goood newsletter on Substack, and my debut cookbook Don’t Think About Dinner is officially out January 13th this year. My specialty is creating attainable and approachable recipes that nourish you and taste amazing, from meal prep to weeknight dinners to special occasions and everything in between. I live in the Boston area with my husband Brian and my two mini dachshunds Copley and Cashew and absolutely love sharing my life with my community online!
What was the inspiration for Don’t Think About Dinner? What is one thing you hope readers (and home chefs!) take away from the cookbook?
I wrote Don’t Think About Dinner to fill the gap I kept falling into in my own experiences using cookbooks. I would receive the book, get excited by the beautiful recipes, bookmark a bunch, and then never actually follow through with making them. I realized that getting dinner (or any meal) on the table requires much more than just a recipe, so Don’t Think About Dinner is meant to set you up for success with everything you need to make it happen—a strategy for how to structure your week, actionable tips for stocking and shopping, dinner plans and grocery lists to follow, and the actual recipes. I hope everyone that uses the book feels empowered and excited when it comes to cooking each week—I know it can feel like a burden, but with the book a lot of the decision making has been taken away and you can just follow along and fall in love with the delicious, nutritious recipes I poured my heart into.
What do you do for work? Tell us about your professional journey.
Aside from being the author of Don’t Think About Dinner, I’m the creator behind @jenneatsgoood on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube and the writer of top 5 Food & Drink publication the eat goood newsletter on Substack. Before starting my own business, I studied finance and entrepreneurship at the University of New Hampshire and worked in commercial healthcare banking. I first started the @jenneatsgoood Instagram account 8 years ago and launched my website jenneatsgoood.com shortly after where I fell in love with sharing my approachable, nourishing, and tasty recipes with the world. My background in finance has fueled my interest in sharing tips for budgeting weekly groceries and many of the tips I share are a result of my own personal health journey.
How do you stay motivated?
First and foremost, my followers and subscribers keep me motivated every day. Hearing that someone’s picky kids licked their plates clean or a busy working woman had a little bit of stress taken off by following my meal plans and recipes continues to motivate and inspire me to keep sharing more. I’m also motivated every day by the amazing team I get to work with on all things jenneatsgoood—I love brainstorming new ideas with them and finding unique ways to share the recipes and tools I develop. At the end of the day, these recipes and plans are ones I follow myself, so when I feel the satisfaction of reducing food waste, having a plan, and eating well each day I continue to have excitement about doing more.
Do you have any advice for someone who is interested in starting a business/blog?
My top tip is to be consistent. I started my account 8 years ago and it took me years of posting to grow a following, but I knew I had a message to share and I kept at it. Consistently look at your own data and make changes accordingly, try out new formats to see what works, and never be afraid to be seen trying. You never know when your moment will come, be patient, work hard, and trust the process!
What are your favorite ways to #spreadgood in your community?
As part of my book launch I contributed to an incredible organization here in Massachusetts called Project Bread, which addresses the core problems of hunger (affordability and access), provides money for groceries, healthy meals for kids in schools, and works with legislators to craft policy solutions to strengthen critical nutrition programs. Making progress with healthy eating starts with accessibility and I want to continue to support those efforts.
Who is one person who inspires you and why?
My husband Brian. Brian is a special education attorney who does amazing, important work advocating for students with special needs in school and their families. Seeing the care and effort that Brian puts into his work inspires me to take a step back, remember why I do what I do, and always focus on the people I’m serving: my jenneatsgoood community. He teaches me everyday what it means to really invest time into quality work and to have patience with the process. He’s very involved in my business too and keeps me grounded!
How do you work to stay centered and practice self-care in your busy day-to-day reality?
It can be hard with a largely virtual job, but I try to prioritize getting outside, moving my body, keeping myself fueled with good food, and fostering my relationships. My family is very important to me so I always chat with them each day and take breaks from being online. Beyond that, my meal planning and prepping routine truly does save me from an overwhelming mental load and keeps me consistent with eating well, which is so critical for my mental health.
What do you like to do for fun, when you aren't working?
When I’m not working you can typically find me on a walk with my dogs and Brian, on the hunt for a new coffee shop or café in our neighborhood, or doing something creative like painting or drawing. I recently became a homeowner, so a lot of my free time now is dedicated to working on our new house, which has been so fun. I also love to play tennis!
What are some of your favorite recipes with Ground Up? Do you have a favorite flavor? (You can also use this space to highlight a recipe from your cookbook that would pair well with your favorite Ground Up flavor and/or tease our collab flavor launching later this year!)
Ooh my favorite has to be using Ground Up in my overnight oats recipes! Whether it’s adding a tablespoon or two into the oats or drizzling it right on top, I love a sweet and salty flavor in my breakfast prep. Right now I’m loving the Lemon Poppyseed Nut Butter on top of the Lemon-Blueberry Overnight Oats from Don’t Think About Dinner, but I have a new favorite you might hear about later this year… stay tuned!!
