Meet Gabby
Meet Gabby, one of our amazing Brand Ambassadors here at Ground Up! If you’ve ever visited us at an in-person market or event, there’s a good chance you’ve already met her! A self-proclaimed nut-butter enthusiast, Gabby moved to Portland in 2019 after graduating from Gonzaga University and now serves as the Social Enterprise Manager at Blanchet House and Farm, where her passion for community and connection shines daily. We’re thrilled to spotlight her story, the values that drive her, and the joy she brings to the Ground Up community!
How did you first discover Ground Up?
A: I first discovered Ground Up at a farmers market in the summer of 2019. From the moment I heard the mission and tasted the product, I was hooked.
What inspired you to become a Brand Ambassador?
A: It’s the mission behind Ground Up that inspired me to become a Brand Ambassador. I truly believe in the power of mission-driven companies and organizations to positively influence and shape our communities. For me, being a Brand Ambassador is a meaningful way to share my love and passion for Ground Up while supporting the brand’s growth and sustainability. And the fact that Ground Up’s nut butters are simply the best certainly doesn’t hurt.
What has your experience been like as a part of the Ground Up team/community?
A: I love being part of the Ground Up community. It’s inspiring and empowering to be surrounded by a team of strong women. I also enjoy connecting with fellow Ground Up fanatics and potential—or soon-to-be—enthusiasts. It’s an honor to be part of a brand that remains grounded while continuing to broaden its reach.
What does “spreading the good” mean to you?
A: To me, spreading the good means showing up as my whole self, meeting the moment—and people—where they’re at, and sharing my time, talents, and resources in ways that benefit those around me. Small actions and moments of joy can have a compounding positive effect, ultimately helping to foster a more accepting and connected community.
What do you wish more people knew about Ground Up and our mission?
A: I wish people better understood the immense barriers faced by individuals experiencing houselessness, poverty, mental health challenges, and other complex circumstances. Workforce development programs like Ground Up’s employee training program not only provide tangible job skills but, perhaps more importantly, offer a dignified and supportive environment where people can build the community and confidence they need on their path toward greater stability.
Any advice you’d give to someone who wants to get involved with a mission-driven brand like Ground Up?
A: Be a customer! Not only will you be supporting the mission with your dollar, but if and when you want to get more involved, who better to speak about the brand than someone who genuinely appreciates and enjoys the product?
What’s your favorite Ground Up flavor — and how do you love to enjoy it?
A: Hands down, Honey Cardamom! This flavor is unique, well-balanced, and versatile. I love it on oatmeal with fresh pear for a sweet start to the day, and I also use it to make a more savory satay-style sauce for a rice noodle bowl.
