Ingredients and Certifications

What ingredients does Ground Up use?

We use dry-roasted nuts, coconut, honey, and a small set of additional ingredients that vary by flavor. No palm oil, no hydrogenated oils, no refined sugar, no artificial preservatives. What's on the label is what's in the jar.

Where can I find the nutritional information?

Nutritional information is on each product page under the Nutrition subheading, and on the back of the jar.

Are your nuts roasted?

Yes, all of our nuts are dry roasted.

Are your ingredients organic?

Many of our ingredients are locally grown, pesticide-free, and sourced from organic farms. However, we are not able to source 100% organically certified materials at this time. We put a lot of care into every ingredient that goes into every jar.

Are your products non-GMO certified?

Yes, all of our core products are non-GMO certified.

Allergens and Dietary Information

Are your products gluten-free?

Yes, 100% gluten-free with no risk of contamination.

Are Ground Up nut butters dairy-free?

Yes. All Ground Up nut butters are dairy-free.

Are Ground Up nut butters vegan?

Most Ground Up nut butters are vegan. Some flavors contain honey, which is not considered vegan by all definitions. Browse our full selection of vegan-certified products or check the ingredient list on each product page.

Are Ground Up nut butters peanut-free?

Our almond, cashew, coconut and hazelnut nut butters are made in a peanut-free facility. Our peanut butter SKUs are produced in a separate facility. Check individual product pages for full allergen information.

What allergens are present in Ground Up products?

Ground Up nut butters contain tree nuts. We also have a peanut butter line launching soon, which contains peanuts, though those are produced in a separate facility. Check the allergen information section on each product page for specific details.

Storage and Shelf Life

How can I enjoy your nut butters?

The possibilities are endless. On toast, in a smoothie, in oatmeal or yogurt, with fruit, or by the spoonful. They also work beautifully in baked goods and savory recipes. Find inspiration on our recipe blog or Instagram.

Why is my nut butter solid?

Since many of our nut butters contain coconut, they can harden in cooler temperatures. To warm it up, heat the jar in the microwave for about 20 seconds until the oils release, or place it in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes. You can also store it in a warm spot near the stove to avoid this altogether.

What are those white spots on top of my nut butter?

Those are solidified coconut oil or cocoa butter, which naturally separate and harden in cooler temperatures. They're completely normal. If you can't stir it to a smooth consistency, warm it up using the instructions above.

Why is there oil at the top of my jar?

Because we don't use palm oil, hydrogenated oils, or preservatives, natural separation will occur. Simply give it a good stir and enjoy.

What is the shelf life of Ground Up nut butter?

Ground Up nut butters have a shelf life of approximately 12 months. You can find the Best By date on the bottom of the jar.

Do I need to refrigerate after opening?

No refrigeration needed. In fact, our coconut-based flavors will harden in the fridge, so we recommend keeping them at room temperature.

I found a nut shell in my nut butter. What do I do?

We're sorry about that! It can occasionally happen. Email customercare@grounduppdx.com and we'll make it right.
