Meet Jamie

Meet Jamie — a hardworking member of our Production Apprentice team whose journey at Ground Up is a beautiful reflection of growth, resilience, and self-discovery.
From learning every role on the production line to stepping into mixing and mastering new skills, Jamie has embraced every opportunity to grow — not just professionally, but personally. Through her time here, she’s discovered how she learns best, built confidence in navigating different personalities, and, most importantly, realized she is worthy of being part of a supportive and mission-driven team.
Keep reading to hear more about her journey, what she’s proud of, and her favorite way to enjoy our nut butter (hint: it involves a spoon and cardamom!).
What does you day-to-day look like at Ground Up?
I’ve learned to do all of the positions on the line as well as being trained on mixing recipes but my favorites out of the ones that I do are filling and labeling.
What do you like about working at GU?
I like working at a place that has a higher mission than just making and selling their product.
What is a new skill to you or something new you have learned about yourself at GU?
I have been able to discover how I learn best. I’ve also been able to grow accustomed to working around different personalities other than my own. I am able to self soothe in a way so that I am less likely to let others’ bad days become my bad days.
Name something worth celebrating at the moment or something you are currently proud of?
I am proud, and SUPER nervous, that I am moving forward in preparing and looking for new work opportunities.
How has your confidence grown since joining the Ground Up team?
I can see that I am worthy of being part of the team.
How would you describe the community at Ground Up?
Extremely supportive.
What does it mean to you to have a job opportunity and be back in the work force?
Having a place that purposefully works to support peoples' traumas and life’s setbacks but see that so many of us are on disability, snap, or OHP. They make sure that our hours and pay are such that we don't lose those things that keep us safe, fed, and alive.
What’s your favorite flavor and way to eat it?
Cardamom straight from the jar and molasses cookie of our seasonal flavors.
